Here is a list of the MAIN Hindu deities:
Ganesha: The Indian God with an Elephant Head. He is the god of good luck and wisdom. He is also the son of Shiva and Devi. He is considered the main god in India. He lives in Heaven with his wives, Riddhi and Siddhi.
Shiva: The Indian God of Destruction. He has three eyes, a trident, drum, a snake around his neck, very long hair, and a moon on his head. His third eye can burn you and kill you in less than one second. He is also called "Bholenath" because of his kindness. He lives in a mountain called Kailash with his wife, Devi.
Vishnu: The Indian God who is the master of the past, present, and future. He lives in the ocean and sleeps on a snake. He has four arms, is blue-skinned, and carries a chakra (wheel that kills people) to kill demons. He lives in the bottom of the ocean with his wife, Laxmi.
Brahma: The Indian God who has created the entire universe. He is a main God in Hinduism. He sits on a lotus and meditates most of the time. He also has three heads. He is also called "Father of the Universe". In one of his four hands, he carries the four Vedas. They are Saam Veda, Rig Veda, Atharva Veda, and Yajur Veda. They teach the basic beliefs of Hinduism. He lives in Heaven with his wife, Saraswati.
Devi: The Goddess who symbolizes strength. She kills evil demons and gives blessings to her devotees. She is always pictured on a lion or tiger in her pictures to show her bravery. Other names for her are Shakti and Parvati. She is the mother of Lord Ganesha. She carries many weapons when she is mad or just to show her bravery. She also lives on the mountain of Kailash with her beloved husband, Lord Shiva.
Laxmi: The Indian Goddess who gives Wealth. She sits on a lotus. She gives blessings to all of her devotees. Her best friends are Hindu Goddesses Devi and Saraswati. She gives money to those people who pray to her sincerely and who are true, and not the evil people with bad hearts. She is often pictured with pots of money next to her to show that she can give you as much money as you ask. She lives at the bottom of the ocean with her beloved husband, Vishnu.
Saraswati: The Indian Goddess of Wisdom. She sits on a WHITE lotus. White is her favorite color. She is always pictured with a Veena. (Indian instrument) She loves music. If you pray to her, she will give you the power to play music and get in the A range on all of your papers for school. She lives in Heaven with her husband, Lord Brahma.
